The Remote Appointment with Dr. Camidge - Oct 29th

Writer's picture: tylerh22tylerh22

We gathered around the kitchen table waiting for the online appointment to begin. Speaking with an ALK expert was our next step. We spoke with Dr. Camidge for 60 minutes about Tyler's PET scans, blood biopsy, and gene mutations. By the end Dr. Camidge gave us 3 options, in this order.

1. Participate in a clinical trial for a 4th generation medication.

2. Continue on the current medication and add chemotherapy.

3. Have his shoulder replaced (which would only work if the cancer was isolated to his shoulder). This last option made my jaw drop. I didn't know that was an option!

It was a good meeting over all and we left feeling hopeful. Tyler and I discussed the options and felt like the clinical trail is best. Tyler is very uncomfortable with the idea of Chemotherapy, which makes sense. Chemotherapy sounds miserable. We will be doing research on the closest location for the clinical trial and then work towards being accepted. A clinical trail should start in Denver in the next couple of months. We hope he gets accepted there because it's a fast flight from St George, and its where Dr. Camidge works. The future is hopeful. God is still great.
