Tyler's second bone biopsy resulted in no new information. The sample of cells taken were damaged and couldn't be read by the lab. Dr. Wilcox believes the cells were potentially damaged when Tyler received radiation therapy last fall. So that was a dead end...Thankfully a blood biopsy was also done a couple weeks ago. We just received those results today. Tyler has two more genetic mutations besides the ALK mutation; however, there are no targeted therapies for these two mutations. Dr. Camidge looked at the results and commented that we need a 4th generation ALK inhibitor. Currently, there aren't any 4th generation drugs that are FDA approved, but there is one 4th generation drug that started clinical trials earlier this year. We are planning to work with Dr Wilcox to figure out how Tyler can be enrolled into that clinical trial. We're hopeful that this is a successful step forward.
We will be meeting with the ALK specialist, Dr Camidge, remotely on Friday. We hope he will be able to coach us going forward. We will continue to walk with Faith in Christ. God is still Great.
