5 Days in Denver

We flew to Denver today. We met a wonderful friend named Richard who made the flight a delight. Denver is freezing, literally freezing at 12 degrees. We waited in line to get our rental car for 2 hours. It was an exercise in patience. The rental companies internet was down, and their employee’s didn’t know how to do the paperwork to rent out the cars. Eventually we made it to our hotel near University of Colorado Hospital. Tyler didn’t sleep well last night. He hasn’t for about a week. The pain in his hips and legs gets so much worse at night. The pain is so terrible that it keeps him awake almost all night. Tyler is in agony and the only thing I can do is pray for him. It’s a terrible feeling. We are praying that the doctors will be able to recommend something to help him. He can’t keep living this way.

We made it to the hospital this morning. Tyler had blood tests done and we met with a doctor. And because Tyler is the first person in the world to take 2 mgs of this medicine, we were told that the clinical trial software wasn’t open to release the medication quite yet. So the office staff worked diligently for another hour and a half before Tyler could start the medication. Around noon we were taken to a special research room. It looked like a very large medical closet. Its where the 12th floor keeps all their extra machines. We thought that was kind of funny. Tyler laid down on the bed and then the nurses gave him the medication. Tyler said he was feeling better already! 😊 Over the next 8 hours the nurses did 7 EKG’s and blood work samples to make sure Tyler was okay. It was a long day.

Tyler visits the hospital everyday to have his heart checked and blood work done. The nurse said that his heart seems to be doing well. We haven’t heard about his blood work yet. The tumor on Tyler’s upper hip continues to grow and the pain is still intense. He says its like having your legs broken and then trying to walk on them. Thankfully, he has gotten more sleep the last couple of days.

January 9th 2022 – Trust in The Lord

The Sabbath day is a delight. It felt so good to rest and focus on The Savior today. We watched my uncle and aunts mission farewell. They spoke about trusting in God. Then we ended up having a wonderful discussion about trusting in Heavenly Father and His plan for us. The theme continued throughout the day when Proverbs 3:5-6 was quoted in the movie we watched called “Flywheel.” I think The Lord wants us to trust Him.

We made it home! It was a long day of medical care and traveling. Tyler spent a good 5 hours in the hospital this morning doing more blood work and EKG's. We haven't seen any terrible side effects yet, which is really nice. He has been extra tired and there is tingling in his left foot, but that could be caused by a pinched nerve in his hip. Even with the pain, we are blessed. We met some really wonderful people on our flights and in the hospital. Good people are everywhere. We feel blessed to of made some new friends on the journey. God is still Great.
