In May, we started doing research on other cancer treatment methods. Tyler started on herbal tea and then a very basic diet of vegetable juice, vegetables and proteins. Tyler's dad felt strongly that he should go to the Immunotherapy Institute in Tijuana, Mexico. So after recovering from Covid-19, Tyler and his dad drove down to San Diego, California. There they met up with Juan, and he drove them across the border to Tijuana.
Tyler was treated at the hospital from 9am - 2pm everyday but Sunday. Meditation, low dose chemotherapy and immunotherapy were a part of the treatment. They also gave him vitamins through infusion everyday and fed him healthy (tasteless) meals. It seems they can't use any kind of seasoning on their food, including salt. Tyler did physical therapy once or twice every week to help strengthen his muscles. The treatment that we hope will help the most is called dendritic cell therapy. On Tyler's first Wednesday in Mexico, the medical staff took out some of his white blood cells and trained them to attack his cancer cells. And then those cells were placed back into his blood stream a couple days ago.
Thankfully, Tyler also had some fun on his trip! They ate delicious mangos, walked on the beach, visited with new friends and shopped at local markets. Tyler went to church with friends, and was able to feel the peace of The Holy Ghost while walking around The Temple in Tijuana.

Tyler spent his first week with his Dad, then the second with his brother, Steven, and then finished off with his Mom. Tyler and his mom flew home on Friday. We are all so excited to have him home again! Tyler has gained 6 pounds over the last 3 weeks which is great. He felt pretty good this weekend. We are praying that his health continues to improve. The plan is for Tyler to have his next PET scan in September. God is still Great.
Welcome home Tyler! A 6 pound gain is a wonderful blessing and so exciting to hear about! It really sounds that the Mexico trip was good. Thanks so much for the update, the pictures are awesome, and the news encouraging. Our prayers for Tyler’s health are with you.
